Let’s start 2019 in receiving mode!
Let’s start the year off receiving!
The new moon is January 6. Perfect timing.
A new moon is the first phase of the moon cycle, the new moon phase holds special meaning for cultures around the world. It is often viewed as a symbol of new beginnings. This magical phase provides a reset where goals are renewed, desires are set, and new intentions are made. Time to think about universal human values and renewal at the beginning of 2019.
If setting an intention for a year feels a little toooo overwhelming let’s set one for 90 days. We love 90 day intentions in the biz world. 90 days is enough time to imbed a new habit into each day and get that new habit really rolling. 90 days is enough time to gauge results, check in if you like what’s happening or if it’s successful. Then decide to tweak, ditch or continue.
I have deliberately used intention instead of resolution because most resolutions fail as they are too big and focused on negative perceptions. When you set a goal with an unrealistic expectation and not attached to any time frame its probably going to fail. When you consider only 8% achieve their resolutions, you may want to rethink that planning. It’s also quite pushy to say to yourself “well you know that thing you didn’t do, well goddamn it we are going to push harder and get it done!
No one likes to be told what to do not even if it’s by your own good self.
An intention to receive
What will you intend to do?
OK I’ll go first
I’m going to be vegan by the end of January. I’m not going to lie or try to sugar coat this …..mmmmmm sugar.
It will be hard. I have taken a new fancy to chocolate just last year and I need to stop this. I would like to savour some chocolate but not have it daily as I had started to do. This is a nice little habit I have developed and it got out of hand at Christmas time when I made Pudding balls wrapped in chocolate ganache.
Just don’t. That’s all I have to say about that one.
Back to being vegan…
I love my butter. I do. Its actually quite disturbing to my two girls that I like it so much.
I have found a substitute now thank goodness it’s called spreadable and you buy it at woollies.
My second intention is to drop body fat by 2% Muscle content increased from 35.4% to 37%, hydration 50% plus consistently by 1 September.
Your intention needs to be specific doable and in positive action language. Both my goals fall into this category.
The next part of intention setting is to have accountability and support.
I’ve just announced my goals here so you can ALL call me on it! I have enlisted two people as support; one to check in with recipes and one to check in with EFT which is tapping on pulse points in case I get lapse and get the guilty thoughts.
My goals need to be congruent with my values too. Both intentions meet values of mine for :
My intention with going vegan and body fat reduction is to honour my values of:
Respect and kindness for the way animals are treated when shipped and preparing for the table
Congruency and caring for all living beings
My intention for Body Fat/muscle/hydration serves values of mine for:
Ease and strength with everyday lifting walking and exercise
Discovering new things and ways of being in the world
Overall wellness health and aliveness
Remember to set your intention at the new moon which is Jan 6 12:28pm
I won’t be staying up I will be worshipping the god of slumber and you don’t need to do it at the exact moment. You can do it anytime from that moment and for a couple of days after.
What will you set as your intention for the first 90 days of 2019?
